Behind every handcrafted piece are the hands of our master crafters, who continue to carry on the legacy, traditions and passion for Australian-made leather crafting. We continue to produce our iconic, heritage boots and belts, while forging new ways to apply the fine art and skill to invent new leather products for our evolving lifestyles.
We’ve crafted our iconic boots in the same way we always have; from one piece leather, through over 80 handheld processes.
Over 89 years we’ve refined special techniques used by only a few boot makers in the world, to create exceptional quality, handcrafted boots to last you a lifetime.
To begin, a single piece of only the finest leather is selected and scrutinised by hand, before a unique shape is hand-cut using a sharp steel-blade in the clicking process.
The precisely cut leather is then folded over a heated, curved ‘block’, to mold, shape, and test its integrity and strength. This creates a tough, durable boot that fits like a glove, while seamlessly showcasing the natural beauty of the leather.
Our iconic elastic sided boots and two tug designs, finished with twin needle stitching are both elegant design features, and help give the boot longevity. They not only allow you to pull on your boots with comfort and ease, but spreads the strain, keeping them strong.
A great boot is only as good as its sole. Our most popular boots feature a Goodyear Welt sole, a construction element that separates a luxury shoe apart from the crowd. It takes our crafters time and skill to assemble, featuring a granulated cork filing for cushioning and support, and a leather welt that makes them durable and reliable.
Finally, each pair of boots passes through no less than six quality checks throughout production, cleaning, and polishing, before they are boxed, shipped, and off to you!
Our quality handcrafted belts range from our classic Drover collection, to our expertly crafted hand-plaited kangaroo leather belts - all made in our Adelaide workshop.
Our iconic Drover collection features a range of classic belts made from durable, double butt vegetable-tanned leather, to the more casual styles made from a combination of durable canvas with leather re-enforcement.
Each of our beautiful hand-plaited kangaroo belts takes one of our master crafters 2 hours to produce, with skills passed down from RM himself. The leather is sustainably and humanely sourced using skins from Australia’s red kangaroos. One skin is cut into 60-70 metres of strands, which can be turned into around three belts.
The belts are not only beautiful to touch, but are made of one of the strongest leathers for its weight in the world, strong enough in fact, a plaited belt could tow a car!
